The book series Analyzing Political Violence (APV), launched in 2020, focuses on original empirical research, analysis and commentary on political violence, in all its contemporary and historic forms. Topics in the series include:
• Forms and functions of political violence • Ecologies, histories, and inter-connections of violent political organizations • Political extremism, terrorism, and other forms of political violence • Distinctions between violence and non-violent extremism • Incitement, violence, and extremist discourse • Material cultures of violent political groups • Political violence and the media • The question of legitimate vs. illegitimate violence in politics • Analysis of relevant policy fields
Dr. Bethan Johnson is the commissioning editor, she is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Analysis of the Radical Right. She specialises in the interlocking threads of identity, nationalism, and terroristic violence. Dr Johnson is currently researching the contemporary far-right in Western nations, with a particular emphasis on terrorism. She has produced work for the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism and the European Commission, been awarded the Terrorism Research Award.
