Das Programm University Meets Microfinance (UMM) vergibt jährlich den "UMM Award": dieser ehrt herausragende Arbeiten junger Forscher im Bereich der Mikrofinanz. Die Gewinner werden von Professoren und anderen Fachleuten aus der Branche auserwählt.
Das Programm wurde von PlaNet Finance und der Freien Universität Berlin ins Leben gerufen und wird von der Europäischen Union mitfinanziert. Ziel von University Meets Microfinance ist es, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen europäischen Universitäten und Fachleuten der Mikrofinanz zu stärken.
