From Anti-Discrimination to Diversity and Inclusion - Science and Practice in Dialogue: This is the new series by Berlin theater producer Harald Hahn, who works with the methodology of the Theatre of the Oppressed in particular. The idea for the conception of the series originates in Hahn's own experience from countless workshops and projects where he was oftentimes confronted with anti-discrimination. The evolution of the debates concerning anti-discrimination because of gender, skin color, social background, age etc., can be traced back to the Diversity concept that is rooted in the US-American civil rights movement of the 60s. The goal of this movement was to reach an equality of opportunity in society. Since then, Diversity has been replaced by the term Inclusion.
What needs to be kept in mind, is that a society that has set diversity as its goal and rejects any form of discrimination, inevitably has to be an inclusive society without exclusion or marginalization. Inclusion does not only denote people with disabilities but also people that have been marginalized or discriminated against because of their social background. One example is our educational system where social background has a major effect on the educational level. This series positions itself and wants to give both scientists and practitioners a public platform.
