Dr. Oleksandr Pankieiev is the editor-in-chief of Forum for Ukrainian Studies, the online analytical magazine of the Contemporary Ukraine Studies Program, and a research coordinator of the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies (CIUS) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. 

Natalia Khanenko-Friesen is the CIUS Director and the Huculak Chair in Ukrainian Culture and Ethnography in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Marta Dyczok, D. Phil. (Oxford), is an Associate Professor at the Departments of History and Political Science, Western University, Canada, Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs, and Adjunct Professor at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Her books include Ukraine’s Euromaidan: Broadcasting through Information Wars with Hromadske Radio (E-IR 2016) Ukraine Twenty Years After Independence: Assessments, Perspectives, Challenges (Aracne editrice 2015), Media, Democracy and Freedom: The Post-Communist Experience (Peter Lang 2009), and The Grand Alliance and Ukrainian Refugees (Palgrave Macmillan 2000). Her papers have been published in, among others, Europe-Asia Studies, Demokratizatsiya, and Canadian Slavonic Papers.

Dr Hiroaki Kuromiya is Emeritus Professor of History at Indiana University Bloomington.

Dr Serhiy Kvit was in 2007-2014 and has been since 2022 the President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine’s oldest higher education institution. He is Professor at the Mohyla School of Journalism, which he founded in 2001 and where he headed its Media Reform Centre promoting open debate and transparent journalism. Kvit was born at Uzhhorod in 1965, grew up in Lviv, and studied journalism at Kyiv in 1986–1991. He obtained doctoral degrees at the Ukrainian Free University of Munich and at National Shevchenko University of Kyiv. Kvit held visiting fellowships at Ohio State University, Stanford University, Washington’s Wilson Center, and the University of Cologne. In 2005–2010, he was Chairman of Ukraine’s Consortium of University Autonomy. In 2014–2016, Kvit was Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine and initiated, among others, the adoption of two key reform laws “On Higher Education” and “On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity.” In 2019–2022, he headed the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance of Ukraine. Kvit is the author and editor of several books as well as of numerous articles published by, among others, the website University World News.

Dr Tamara Martsenyuk is Associate Professor of Sociology at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. After her evacuation from Kyiv to Germany, she became also affiliated with the Free University of Berlin and Leuphana University of Lüneburg. Martsenyuk's research focuses on gender and social structure including, among others, women’s access to the military. She is a member of the International Sociological Association, Association for the Study of Nationalities, and other professional bodies. She authored, among others, chapters for the collected volumes Gender, Politics, and Society in Ukraine (University of Toronto Press 2012), New Imaginaries: Youthful Reinvention of Ukraine’s Cultural Paradigm (Berghahn 2015), and other books. Her papers have been published in the Journal of Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society, Problems of Post-Communism, Sexuality & Culture and other periodicals.

Alexander J. Motyl (PhD, Columbia University 1984) is Professor of Political Sci¬ence at Rutgers University – Newark, New Jersey. He served as Associate Director of The Harriman Institute at Columbia University in 1992–1998. He is author of Ukraine vs. Russia (Westphalia Press 2017), Pidsumky imperiy (Krytyka 2009), Puti imperii (Moskovskaia shkola politicheskikh issledovanii 2004), Imperial Ends (Columbia University Press 2001), Revolutions, Nations, Empires (Columbia University Press 1999), Dilemmas of Independence (Council on Foreign Relations 1993), Sovietology, Rationality, Nationality (Columbia University Press 1990), Will the Non-Russians Rebel? (Cornell University Press 1987), and The Turn to the Right (East European Monographs 1980); as well as the editor of over ten volumes, including The Encyclopedia of Nationalism (Elsevier 2000). Motyl is co-editor, together with Bohdan Klid, of The Holodomor Reader (CIUS Press 2012) and, together with Ksenya Kiebuzinski, of The Great West Ukrainian Prison Massacre of 1941 (Amsterdam University Press 2016). His articles have been published in, among other outlets, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Harvard Ukrainian Studies, Comparative Politics, Slavic Review, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, Nationalities Papers, Problems of Post-Communism, Internationale Politik, and Osteuropa. Motyl was the 2019 Laureate of the Omelian and Tatiana Antonovych Foundation Award. In 2020, the website AcademicInfluence.com ranked Motyl sixth among the world-wide “Top Ten Most Influential Political Scientists Today.”

Dr. Bo Petersson has been Professor of Political Science at the Department of Global Political Studies at Malmö University, Sweden, since 2010. Previously, he has served as full professor at Lund University and senior lecturer at Uppsala University. Petersson is a co-founder and co-director of the research platform “Russia and the Caucasus Regional Research” (RUCARR) at Malmö University. He is a board member of The Swedish Society for the Study of Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Swedish Network for European Studies in Political Science as well as the journal Communist and Post-Communist Studies.

Dr. Serhii Plokhy ist Professor für Ukrainische Geschichte und Direktor des Ukrainischen Forschungsinstituts an der Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Der Bestsellerautor von Das Tor Europas: Die Geschichte der Ukraine (2022), Die Frontlinie (2022) und Der Angriff: Russlands Krieg gegen die Ukraine und seine Folgen für die Welt (2023) ist preisgekrönter Verfasser zahlreicher Bücher.
