Leipzig Book Fair 2026
19.03.2026
We're back at the Leipzig Book Fair again this year, and this time we're focusing on one of our books in particular. We'll present "What Did Russia's Occupation of Crimea Mean?", edited by Olena Bogatyrenko, at two events.
March 21, 3:00 p.m., Hall 2, Booth A303:
Book presentation at the Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker (GfbV) booth
We cordially invite everyone to a book presentation of "What Did Russia's Occupation of Crimea Mean?"
Elnara Nuriyeva-Letova, author of one of the stories and the coordinator at GbfV for Crimea issues, will be present, as well as the editor of the collection, the Ukrainian writer Olena Bogatyrenko.
March 22, 3:00 p.m., Hall 4, Booth D311:
Discussion at the Ukraine booth
This panel will focus on the voices of twelve women from Ukraine who were forced to leave their homes in 2014 following the Russian occupation of Crimea. Their documentary accounts form the basis of the book of the same name and offer a personal perspective on the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
The panel will address experiences of loss and displacement. How can the history of Crimea be preserved? What role do individual memories play in the fight against forgetting? And why is it necessary to continue raising awareness of the events of 2014?
The discussion invites participants to engage in conversation about remembrance, responsibility, and the future of Crimea.
