Dr Slavomír Horák obtained his Ph.D. in Area Studies at Charles University in Prague. Since 2019, he is an associate professor of Political and Cultural Geography at the Department of Russian and East European Studies, Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). Previously, Slavomír Horák held his fellowships and visiting scholarships in Moscow, Tashkent, Almaty, Washington, Helsinki and Tbilisi. Horák is a member of the European Association for Central Asian Studies Board. His previous books include Central Asia between the West and East (Karolinum, 2005), Afghan Conflict (Prague, 2005). His papers have been published by, among other outlets, Central Asian Survey, Contemporary Politics, Problems of Communism, Central Asian Affairs, Nationalities Papers, and Demokratizatsiya.
